Cutting Carpet Into Manageable Strips

Self-scoring blades feature vertical wings that score the flooring as the main horizontal blade travels underneath it.

Instead of manually pre-cutting an entire floor into strips with utility knives before scraping, the tooling helps cut the material into manageable sections as it is being removed.

Why Blade Width Matters

When it comes to floor-removal tooling, wider isn’t always better.

A narrower blade concentrates the machine’s force over a smaller cutting area. If the flooring isn't releasing cleanly or the machine begins travelling over the material rather than underneath it, NFE recommends reducing the blade size.

Once the material begins releasing easily, moving to a wider blade can increase the amount of flooring removed with each pass and improve production.

Choosing the right blade width, thickness and orientation can therefore make a significant difference to floor-removal efficiency.
